AARP offers assistance with income tax filing
AARP Foundation Tax-Aide program will have counselors available to provide free tax help for low and middle income taxpayers with special attention to those 60 and older at Benson Senior Center, 705 W. Union St., from noon to 4 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 4, Feb. 11, Feb. 25, March 11, March 25, April 1 and April 15.
Taxpayers are asked to register at the senior center prior to the dates which they will be available for tax preparation.
The following items required:
Bring government ID
Social Security card
Copy of last year's return
W-2 from each employer
Unemployment statements
All 1099 forms (1099-INT, 1099-DIV, 1099-B, 1099-Misc, and 1099-R, all forms indicating federal income tax paid, documentations to support credits and all receipts or canceled checks if itemizing deductions.
AARP Tax-Aide provides a confidential service to prepare tax returns and provide answers to tax-related questions.
