A 48-year-old Benson man was killed Friday, the victim of a wrong-way collision on Interstate 10.

Arizona Dept. of Public Safety spokesman Quentin Mehr identified the victim as Jesus Haro. Mehr said Haro's 2007 Toyota passenger vehicle was struck at approximately milepost 293 west of Benson by a 2009 Chevrolet Suburban headed eastbound in the westbound lanes. DPS initially reported the suburban was headed westbound in the eastbound lanes.

Haro was dead at the scene from injuries of the 3:50 a.m. crash, said Mehr. He was not wearing a seatbelt, he said.

James Anderson, 61, of Palm Springs, Calif., was identified as the driver of the suburban. He was airlifted to a Tucson hospital for treatment of undisclosed injuries. Anderson was wearing a seatbelt, said Mehr.

There were no further details provided as investigation continues, authorities said.

" Jesus Haro was truly a most wonderful and special person. Those who had the privilege of knowing him or the opportunity to have met him, even briefly, were always impressed by the unwavering kindness, compassion, quiet strength and loyalty of his character. His sojourn in this life ended while on the way to his place of work to assist less fortunate individuals in need. May God bless and console his family as he will be sorely missed by all those who were fortunate to have known him. "

" Jesus Haro was my uncle and he was a great man, had the most beautiful smile. he a heart as big as he was, his life was taken too soon but he is in a better place now! His reputation and laughter and love will be missed. One of his favorite quotes was "i dont want you to hear my words, I want you to feel them" and that we all did. RIP "Buddy" we will always remember the good times and you have left a lot of very good memories. Love and miss you very much! "

" I did not know Jesus, but I wanted to ask the reporter if she could continue working on this story so we can discover: why the man was driving on the wrong side of the road, and what charges will be filed to hold him accountable for his wreckless decision. "
