Community Christmas
Celebration rehearsals
Rehearsals for the annual San Pedro Valley Interdenominational Community Christmas Celebration begin Sunday, Nov. 8 at 6 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Pomerene Road and will continue each Sunday except Thanksgiving weekend.
The performance will be held Sunday, Dec. 13 at 7 p.m. The public is welcome. For additional information contact Robin Fenn at 586-4344.

The Community Food Pantry will be closed Wednesday, Nov. 11 in observance of Veterans Day.

Gallery of Dreams in St. David is hosting a Brass Ornament Workshop Saturday, Nov, 7, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. The workshop will be taught by copper and metal artist Lindsay Roberts. Vista on septic care
A Septic Care Workshop will be held Nov. 7, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. for septic system owners and will cover how septic systems work, how they should be maintained and why it is important to protect drinking water quality. Dr. Kitt Farrell-Poe, University of Arizona Water Quality Specialist is the presenter. The presentation will be held in the Public Meeting Room at UA South, 1140 N. Colombo Ave., in Sierra Vista. The Disabled American Veterans service officer will be available at the Fraternal Order of Eagles, 750 E. 4th St., in Benson every Wednesday, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The service officer will also be available at the City of Benson's [train depot] Visitor's Center on 4th St., on Fridays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Bingo Monday
at Senior Center
Bingo games are held every Monday at the Benson Senior/Community Center. Card sales from 12:20 p.m. to 12:55 p.m. Each card price of $1.50 includes 12 regular games and the progressive cover-all. Must be at least 18 to play. The center is located at 705 W. Union St., by the city pool.

A women's interdenominational Bible study will meet Wednesday mornings from 9 a.m. to 11:15 a.m., at First Baptist Church, 983 S. Ocotillo Ave. Study is on the book of Daniel with Beth Moore. Willow Lakes women's non-denominational Bible study will be held weekly on Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the clubhouse, 2125 W. Vista Dr. The 12-week study session is on Jesus' mother Mary.
Bible class at Bethlehem Orthodox Lutheran
Vicar Jonathan Loescher will be leading a Bible Class entitled "Pointing to the Cross."
The 10-week class is under way. Anyone may join at any time. Bethlehem Orthodox Lutheran Church is located south of Union on Duane St. and High St., by the cemetery. Time for worship has changed from 8 to 9 on Sunday morning.
San Pedro Valley High School graduation set
San Pedro Valley High School will recognize its December 2009 graduates during the semi-annual Graduation Ceremony & Recognition Night Thursday, Dec. 17, at 6 p.m. at Cochise College, Benson Center.
Kristy Reynolds, Grades 7-12 School Social Counselor will deliver the keynote address, with Stephanie Clayton, student speaker. A staff speaker has yet to be determined.
Graduates include Leanna Barlow, Evan Bowen, Kalvin Catlin, Stephanie Clayton, Josh Hippensteel, C.J. Johnson, David Merten, Luis Meza, Levi Ramirez, Shalena Solis, Ashley Stapleton.
Students of the month, Kalvin Catlin, August; Alysha Pirtle, September; along with October, November, and December Students of the Month (TBD).
Students on the Honor Roll, with exemplary attendance, and students who have passed the AIMS test, will be recognized as well.
Arts Council seeks
photos, artwork
The San Pedro River Arts Council is looking for photographs or works on paper to replace the current exhibit in the City Hall Gallery.
The new exhibit will be called "The Doors of Cochise County," and, as the title implies, will be images of doors, or doorways in Cochise County. The exhibit will be mounted on Dec. 2 and run through the end of January 2010. Call Sylvia Burnside at 586-4782 or email her at bensonartsbelle@mac.com for more information, or to show work. There is no charge. The work will be juried, and must have information such as title, medium, and artist's name and contact information. No work can be sold from this location, and will require an artist's liability statement.

Chef Mark Anthony, formerly of the Sands Hotel in Las Vegas, will be in Benson Wednesday, Nov. 4, at 6:30 p.m., offering a culinary arts program on health advantages of plant-based diet and nutrition at Benson Seventh-day Adventist Church on the corner of Patagonia and Sixth streets across from City Hall.
