Summer aquatics program schedule posted
The City of Benson's summer recreation program started with a splash Thursday at the city pool.
Recreational swim general admission is 25 cents for children 12 and under and $1 for those 13 and older. Children ages 8 and older are welcome to swim without an adult. Along with the opening of the pool, that week Cox Communications and the City of Benson Parks and Recreation Department hosted a movie in the Park, featuring the movie Kung Fu Panda!, and a concert and dance with Exit 303 at Lions Park.
Summer aquatics program:
Children's swimming lessons - Cost: $20 per session. American Red Cross swimming lessons are offered at the City of Benson pool. Lessons will be offered in four two-week sessions on weekday mornings from 10 a.m. to 10:50 a.m.
Session 2: 6/15-6/26
Session 3: 7/5-7/17
Session 4: 7/20-7/31
Fitness swimming for kids 8 to 17- Cost: General admission: Structured lap swimming workout, including stroke corrections, drills, etc. Children must be able to swim 25 yards without stopping. This course is designed for children with intermediate to advanced swimming skills. Fitness swimming offered on Saturdays, 9-9:50 a.m.
Swimming playtime - Cost: Child admission
Instructor-led play group with various swimming and out-door activities. Parent participation is required, only child pays admission fee. Swimming playtime offered Saturdays 10-10:50 a.m.
Adult lap swim - Cost: General admission
The main pool is 25 yards long with a depth range of 3-5 feet. Lap swimming is offered on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9 a.m.-9:50 a.m. and Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 5 p.m.-6 p.m.
Dive in Movie - Cost: General admission
Families are invited to participate in a "Dive in Movie" to splash around the pool while enjoying a popular movie. "Dive in Movie" nights are scheduled for June 6 and June 20. Gates open at 7:30 p.m, movie starts at 8 p.m.
Family Fun Nights - Cost: General admission
The city's parks and recreation dept. urges residents to "enjoy a night at the pool with your family! Swim time is set aside for families to spend time together in the swimming pool. Family fun nights will be held July 11 and July 25, from 7-9 p.m.
Teen Swim Nights- Cost: General admission
Attention all teens ages 13-17 are invited to a night at the pool. Join friends at the Benson City Pool from 7-9 p.m. on June 13 and Aug. 1. For additional information call 520-720-6044 or 520-720-6072.
